Radio Fascia Adaptors

There are two types, one with a shelf at the bottom of the adaptor, and one with the shelf at the top of the adaptor, both are fitted slightly different. both are the same price from the same supplier. They both come with pros and cons, see for yourself below. I prefer the second one.

Type 1 - Scosche FMC1370

Available from - http://www.sfxaudio.com/cgi-bin/dispinstallprod.asp?ProdId=70193

Fascia with shelf on the Top   Fascia with shelf on the Top
This one is fitted with the cage out of the fascia. The fascia adapter is then put into place in the gap, and the cage is inserted into the adapter. Your stereo goes into the cage, and your outer stereo trim is then placed on top of the adaptor on the ridge provided.

PROS
  • Stereo secure as the cage holds the adaptor in place.
  • Cage sits at the bottom of the gap and sits flat
  • Still better than the standard upper plain blanking plate
  • Useful shelf
  • Radio in the lower position gives a move horizontal mount and helps stop reflection on the display.
  • Easy removal as installation is as if the adaptor wasn't there, simply use release tools and pull.
  • Utilises the original outside trim on stereo
  CONS
  • Doesn't seem to sit flush on the lower half.
  • Shelf is a bit too smal to put anything useful in.

Type 2 - Scosche FM1375

Available from -http://www.sfxaudio.com/products/dispItem.asp?ProdId=70191

Fascia with shelf on the Bottom   Fascia with shelf on the Bottom
This one is fitted with the cage already in the fascia. As the cage needs be in the top of the gap, it may be necessary to use the "tall rear mounting bracket" which is supplied with the adaptor and slides onto the bracket inside the fascia.
Slide the radio into the cage and then simply click the adaptor into place over the top of the radio. The front half of the radio seems to just sit on the outside of the shelf (inside the fascia).

PROS
  • Stereo sits flush with the aaptor and fascia
  • Good size shelf holds two cd's with dividers in side the shelf.
  • Easy installation of adaptor, simply clip on the front adaptor.
  CONS
  • Fiddlly to fit the cage in the upper side of the gap in the fascia, doesn't stay up easily.
  • Mine seems to sit slightly low but will just add some felt or such like to the inside of the adaptor to raise the stereo up.
